I LOVE…Fridays

ilovefridaysnew

I LOVE… drinking chocolate milk first thing in the morning.  Mmmmm breakfast.
I LOVE… wearing Walter’s BDU jacket, and also the fact that I’ve had his BDUs for four years now.  GO ME!
I LOVE… Walter.  What?!! If I don’t say it regularly I think I’ll explode!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE… the excitement of getting to the end of a book, and also the separation anxiety I get when it’s over and I have to put it down.  I’m so weird.
I LOVE… grocery shopping.  I love the certainty of knowing what I need and then going in and getting it.  Hell, I just love shopping altogether.  If I’m spending money in a store, I’m probably loving every second of it.
I LOVE… make-your-own-salads at Stop & Shop.  I suppose I could just call it the salad bar, but whatever.  I love the salads I make there.  I make such good salads.
I LOVE… sunny days and weather over 70° (which does not describe today at all, but whatever).
I LOVE… watching old TV shows like I Love Lucy and The Cosby Show.
I LOVE… books.  And bookstores.  And nice bookshelves.  I want to build bookshelves, sturdy ones, and have a library of books in my house!  I’m going to buy books this weekend.  It’s going to be great (see note above about spending money).  :D

Prelude to Eclipse

I’m about to start reading Eclipse, and I’m excited.

Last night one of the guys at work asked me how I liked the second book (he’s only read Twilight so far, not New Moon) and I told him it was good enough to read it in less than 12 hours.  Good in a different way than Twilight.  I noticed that Twilight is a book heavy with sexual tension and desire and in New Moon that undertone is almost completely gone, but there’s also a lot more action and a lot more going on in the second book.  So they’re both good.

I’m looking forward to hopefully a lot more more Edward and his family in this third book.  Bella kind of annoys me with her constant woe-is-me attitude, but at the same time she reminds me of myself.  That can’t be a good thing.  *eye roll*

I’m in love with Edward Cullen.  It’s true.  If he was like a real life guy (you know, minus the vampire part) it would be creepy and he would frighten me with his obsessive stalkerish tendencies, but I’m in love with him as an impossible fictional character.  I didn’t really like Jacob all that much in the first book and my dislike of him grew in the second book.  Where Edward is mysterious and sexy in his godlike perfection, I immediately related Jacob to an annoying friend who is secretly in love with me and while at first it’s endearing and sweet, it ends up being annoying because he purposefully refuses to get it.

Still haven’t watched the movie.  Still not sure I want to.  I hear Robert Pattinson does a good job portraying the character’s personality, but he just isn’t as perfect as Edward should be visually.  And I think Kristen Stewart’s voice kind of bothers me in the trailers.  We’ll see.  Sarah will probably force me to watch it with her anyway LOL.

Alright, enough Twilight talk for now.  I’ve gotta go get ready for work.  Any thoughts on the new theme?  I like it a lot better than all the other’s I’ve tried thus far.  What do you think?  Are you following me on Twitter (@SillyJaime) yet?

In which I ramble about my musical tastes…

I’m going with Twilight as my next series to read.

I’m not apprehensive about reading it.  I don’t fear that I’ll be sucked into a vortex of preteen vampire dream obsession.  I simply want to read it.  End of story.

And no, I haven’t seen the movie.

In other news!  Today Lemmonex blogged about how to devein your own shrimp.  Not only that, but she did it NKOTB style (you know, Step One: we can have lots of fun, etc).  You should all know how much I love the New Kids.  I got in the shower singing Step By Step, and you know what?  I danced.  That’s right, I dance to the New Kids On the Block.  So what?  It’s like the only thing I dance to.

Now, I type that and I’m singing “my girlfriends a dick magnet/my girlfriends gotta have it” because Theory of a Deadman just popped up on my iTunes.  I obviously listen to a wide variety of music, but when it comes down to making a choice I’d choose music I grew up with over anything else.

I’m a New Kids on the Block fangirl.  I have been since I was five years old.  Once a fangirl, always a fangirl.  Whenever I hear Step By Step it takes be back to being a 6 year old girl, crazy in 6 year old love with Joey McIntyre.  When I hear I’ll Be Loving You Forever I imagine dancing at my wedding someday (because if I ever get married that WILL be my wedding song!).  And I’m totally at Mohegan with Crystal standing in the stands as they run out on stage singing Cover Girl and then Single last September, having the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.

I. Love. New Kids On the Block.

I don’t care how lame and nerdy that makes me.  My parents still listen to the Everly Brothers, Neil Sedaka, the Beach Boys and Sam Cooke.  My grandmother still loves Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra.  It’s pretty natural to listen to the music you loved in your youth, as much as people my age will deny it.  Hanson?  They say Ew.  I say Heck yes!  Wilson Philiips?  Most people will laugh.  You don’t gotta ask me twice!  Old school skanky Madonna, Debbie Gibson, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Guns ‘N Roses, Bryan Adams and Whitney Houston?  Please, just look at my iTunes.  You’ll find Abba, Weird Al, Bonnie Tyler, Metallica, Phil Collins, REO Speedwagon, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Joey Lawrence and Duran Duran mixed in with Ace Of Base, New Kids On the Block, Toby Keith, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash and music from Phantom Of the Opera.  I listen to EVERYTHING.  I’m not ashamed of my music library.

Harry PotTwilight of Time? You be the judge.

I finished reading The Queen’s Lady tonight.  It was good.  It was better than good.  I’d highly recommend it to anyone who likes Anya Seton or Philippa Gregory, or even anyone who loves a book that has everything in it.

Now on to my next book challenge.  There are a few series of books that I would love to read, and yet can’t quite choose between them.  Maybe y’all can help me choose.  The choices are as follows:

The Wheel of Time
Harry Potter
Twilight

Don’t judge me!

I seriously want to read all of these, but I’m not sure which to pick up first.  I don’t own any of them, but all are at my disposal.  I’m kind of leaning away from the Wheel of Time right now since it’s such a long series, but I don’t want to rule it out completely.  It’s still in the running.

Aside from these, I have three books unread sitting on my shelf (excluding More’s Utopia, I simply can’t force myself through that).  I’m not really feeling into reading any of the three.  But if anyone knows of any historical fiction (especially taking place in 11th-17th century England, early 20th century [or late 19th century] Soviet Russia, Vlad III the Impaler, or WWII Germany) that I have not read please feel free to suggest it.

Next time I go to the bookstore I’m going to pick up a copy of The Reader.  The movie was excellent, so I can only imagine the book to be superb.

That still leaves me bookless at the moment.  You know my choices.  So what do I read next?  Any thoughts?

What are you reading right now?
