Confession Time {NaBloPoMo 17}
I have a confession to make, people. Some of you may be astounded, some of you might not care. And some of you, I’m sure, will be mortified and never want to talk to me again. Here it is:
I only listen to music when I’m driving in the car.
Now put down your weapons and your blunt objects and hear me out. Let me tell you why I don’t generally listen to music while I’m doing anything but driving and why I’m happy that way.
I don’t walk around with my iPod, it stays plugged into my car stereo. I don’t listen to music in bed or at the computer. Music tends to distract me and I can’t get much done while it’s on. I can’t write and listen to music. I have tried to play games and listen to music at the same time, but I feel like I’m being bombarded with crazy sensory overload and have to turn it off.
The only time I listen to music outside the car is when I’m at karaoke with Mike.
Are you going to disown me now?
Can you make ‘evil hands’?

At first I thought this was strange. But then when I thought about it- that is pretty much the only time I listen to music too, is in the car.
Wait. That’s a lie. I listen when:
-On treadclimber
-While cooking or cleaning
but that’s the only exceptions. I can’t listen to music while playing games or studying or anything like that, waaay to distracting!
So, you are not disowned in my book!! :)
oh and I can do evil hands- but photograph evil hands? I don’t think that would work out so well.

Two times count as quite often? And I already said here that I’ve tried it and had to turn it off!

Well, sweetie.. I don’t think you’re weird. I have a friend that can listen to lectures (iTunes has them free from Yale!) as she works. I can’t. Talking voices distract me so much that I tune them out. People have to get my attention to get me to listen and, in order to do so, you completely take me away from concentrating on other things. I’m one of those strange people that really, really listens. If you’re talking, I have to tune everything else out, because listening for me is extremely difficult. I’m not an audio person, by nature, I’m a visual person.
That being said, I’m completely different when it comes to music. I can and have to have music going on most of the time – some sort of noise. I don’t like a lot of quiet, though, unfortunately, I’ve gotten used to it more lately. With music, I can usually just have my mind going to the beat – speeds up the day.
May I ask you a question – I’m thinking about doing something… and I’m kind of wondering how you feel “What If? Wednesdays” are working out for you…

So far I like them. I think I’ll give them another two weeks, a month trial, and see how I feel from there.
What are you thinking about doing?

I’m thinking about doing “Wonderful Women Wednesdays”… where I hope that we can showcase women in our lives that have made a difference to us… Not historical figures, alone… moms, sisters, grandmothers, etc… I even made a graphic, albeit I’m going to post a couple of options, b/c I couldn’t decide on font. I’m scared, but I really want to pull this off…
I’m starting to organize my blog… I’m going to blog about my “schedule” or what I hope is going to be my schedule on Saturday. That’s when I’ll introduce Wonderful Women Wednesdays…

Oh girl you are DIS-owned. tsk tsk tsk…
But I read about your love for Pandora so I beg to differ! Ha.
I have moments when I need to just tune out. The rythm, lyrics, everything…get to me and I just need a break from it all.

I thought you were trying to put your hands together, you know, like in… prayer!
They’re pretty good evil hands in my opinion…

Yeah, but do you ever see the evil hand move when someone is looking at their hands with they tongue hanging out of they mouth? It doesn’t come across as evil, it comes across as droolie!

OK, point taken. But I still thought it was meant to be looking down at your PRAYERFUL hands…
But yes, I guess if you were going to strictly EVIL hands, it was a bit of a fail. Still cute though.

I can’t imagine. I listen to music and podcasts most of the day, a lot of the time when I’m even at work. It’s so much a habit that I feel weird without some kind of background noise. But, it doesn’t distract me from things, probably because I tune it out.
I’m going to have to try evil hands. I think I can do it, because my hands are pretty scary all on their own. I have very long fingers. I’d practice right now, but I’m at work and in view of a lot of people. ;)

I love listening to podcasts, I have about 200+ unread in my iTunes… I just can’t find the time to devote to them. Next long car ride I make (20 min or more) I’ll listen to a podcast. I always forget about them.
Also you should do your evil hands in your next vlog. :D

I’m really good at multitasking, like I can do two things at once, as long as it isn’t sensory overload.

Hahah! I gotta admit I listen to it the most when I’m in the car too, or when I’m doing something fun like twittering or play games in the computer. Not when I blog though, It’s hard to focus with music on like you said.
