Thought Food

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappy fucking Monday. Do you have a case of the Monday’s today?! I have just the thing:

THE ABSOLUT SPIRITS ABSOLUT HUNK

You. Are. Welcome.

What did you do this weekend? I spent a good portion of it packing.

While I was packing, and going through the boxes upon boxes of pictures and letters and cards that I have accumulated over the past freaking decade (Jesus I am old) … I found a letter from my Papa. He used to send me letters when I was younger all the way up to when I was in the military. He typed them on his typewriter … and signed them in pen “With Love, Your Papa”

I miss him. For a man of few words, he always knew what to say to make me feel better. And it was always the truth. I miss him every day … but today more than most days … because reading his letters reminded me of his voice. He and I speak often. Today he told me that he loved me and that he was proud of me. It was something that I needed to hear.

Other than that, I don’t have much else because this weekend was filled with 409 and packing tape. And wine. And laughter.

So rather than repeating myself in a blog about how much I love my friends and my family, I will spew some random thoughts that I have had in the recent days:

Sometimes I think that people want something to be that isn’t meant to be so badly that they try to force it to be. If it isn’t meant to happen, no matter how much you try to force it … it will not end up being. And if it does, it will be a disappointment.

Praying works. I am no Christian Christine, attending church in my nicest dress every Sunday morning, but I am a spiritual person. And when I pray, I feel like my soul is being heard. Like the ears of the goddesses are open and willing to hear what I have to say.

If you are a genuinely good person, things will work out. A few of my really good friends are struggling right now, and I want them all to know that I am confident in the fact that because they are amazing individuals with hearts the size of Manhattan … that the struggles will do nothing less than make them stronger, better people because of them. Keep your head up. It is gonna get better.

2 ladies can do anything if they put their minds to it. (Example: Moving an antique wood dresser up 3 flights of stairs. In flip flops. Example: finding a free couch, moving it from the apartment it was in down a flight of stairs and cleaning the ever loving dog hair shit out of it and then recruiting two hot boys to move it up the same aforementioned 3 flights of stairs while we went shopping.)

I don’t like people. In the last 3 days, I have seen an ugly side of people that I am pretty sure I knew existed but wished did not. It takes a sad, pathetic individual to drag someones name through the dirt with tasteless jokes and commentary hours after their passing. It isn’t even the media that I am referring to either. It is people whom I have called friends. I get that we don’t all have to agree. I get that we all have different opinions. On the same note, we should all have respect. And class. And tact. Right now, it is missing, and that makes me sad.

I am really excited for so many reasons. Things in the life of Wicked are changing. For the better. I have lived in my own world of happy for a good moment now, and with this recent house-with-a-backyard-for-the-same-rent-I-pay-here discovery… it just keeps getting better. My family is growing. (andnotintheimpregnantway) We are evolving and creating new traditions.

Lastly, I would like to see the following movies:

Up
Ice Age 3
My Sister’s Keeper
The Hangover
The Proposal
Year One
And
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

Do you have any random thoughts to share? Open statements to get off of your chest?
What movies do you want to see or have seen recently that you would like to recommend?

My Old Supervisor’s brother is in The Hangover. So our entire company went to see it opening night. I want to see it roughly a zillion more times.

I want to see Ice Age 3, Transformers, GI Joe and Harry Potter. OH And the Christian Bale/Johnny Depp movie that I never remember the name of.

I dunno what The Taking of Pelham 123 is…? Enlighten me?

I found a packet of ForgetMeNot seeds today that I never planted because I didn’t want to see them die. (I”m horrible with plants) I am considering putting the entire packet, seeds and all, into a frame of some sort. This makes me smile.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 is the movie with Denzel Washington and John Travolta. John Travolta is the bad guy in it. (swoon)

I am horrible with plants too. I never planted mine either.

I totally forgot about that movie. I want to see that one. Anything Johnny Depp is on my list.

    Jen Reply:

I think it’s called Public Enemies or something like that.

    LivingWicked Reply:

I want to hump Johnny Depp something terrible.

    I'm the Heppest Reply:

Oh I want to hump him as well. He’s my husband though, you didn’t know that? Don’t worry I’ll share him with you ;)

And the movie IS Public Enemies and I am going to see it sometime after work Wednesday morning, opening day! :) Can’t wait!

I also saw The Hangover probably around 2 weeks ago, it is AMAZING! I loved it…I will buy it on DVD when it comes out and watch it till over and over lol. I’m like, in LOOOOVE with Bradley Cooper..sooo had to see it. They’re already working developing The Hangover 2.

    LivingWicked Reply:

Tell me how it is, K!?

Bradley Cooper is HOT HOT HOT. Like, sizzling.

Okay, you made me tear up a little bit.
I miss them too. We saw them at least once a week growing up and I didn’t realize how cool that was until I lived in Phoenix and had the epiphany that if we didn’t live closer, Ethan would never see his grandma. And that was NOT how I wanted him to grow up.

I don’t really think about movies in the theaters, I wait for them to hit On Demand.

    LivingWicked Reply:

Sorry… I totally started bawling when I read it.

Did they ever get to meet Ethan?

    Jen Reply:

No, they didn’t, he was born in 2004 and we didn’t come back to visit until Nana’s funeral.

    LivingWicked Reply:

    :(

She would have loved him. Did I ever tell you that toward the end… she didn’t remember me, but she remembered Xavier?

That was so hard for me.

    Jen Reply:

That would have been hard for me too :(

I haven’t liked people in a loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnng time…these last few days have just reinforced those feelings.

Your thoughts about your dad made me smile and made tears well up in my eyes at the same time. My mom has been gone for 9 years now (10 years come October), and it bothers me that I cannot remember her voice. I remember how she looks because I see her looking back at me in the mirror, but I hate that I cannot remember her voice. She used to write me letters and notes of encouragement all the time, but those are long gone. I wish I still had them.

    LivingWicked Reply:

It was my grandfather… my dad’s dad, but thank you for the kind words. I am sorry to hear about your mom… it hurts so much to have someone you love who you kinda get used to hearing their voice… be gone.

    You know?

  7. Zandria Says:

Wait! Christian Bale AND Johnny Depp in the same movie? Awesome. Now if only they could have thrown in Daniel Craig and Viggo Mortensen. Would that have been asking too much? :)

    LivingWicked Reply:

    MMMM.

  8. Miss Tricky Says:

The Hangover was funny, but not Wedding Crashers or Old School funny…..just sayin’

It has been my experience that women always make better furniture movers. My dad and little brother spent abillion hours trying get furniture up and/or down the stairs at my old house…..it took me and my stepmom like, a second.

In other news, I love you.
    .-= Miss Tricky´s last blog ..Monday, I own you… =-.

Interesting perspective on The Hangover. Those are 2 of my favorite movies ever and it has been compared to them. I would have been disappointed. <3 you for that.

    <3 you period.

Courtni… you are so right, the universe shows us exactly what we ask for, ask for what you want, what you need, anything and the universe will answer, thus the “be careful what you wish for” statement…

Secondly, tell your friends who are struggling that you and I are living proof that when we believe in the spiritual realm and remove all doubt, relax and give it to the universe, that is when we receive what we need and ask for…

I am a true believer, not ashamed to share it with everyone I know! My good fortune and gratitude in life are consistent with my spiritual realm and the laws of attraction!

Love ya girl, thrilled you found a house! Yay!

    LivingWicked Reply:

We really are the example. :) I try to live it every day and appreciate the (even the smallest) blessings in my life.

Thanks! You will definitely need to come by and see it!

  11. Jaime Says:

Year One was funny. My sister and I took my dad to see it for Father’s Day, and he loved it. It was pretty good. Definitely funny.

    I want to see:
    Harry Potter
    The Hangover
    Ice Age 3 (DINOSAURS, HELLO?!!!)
    My Sister’s Keeper
    The Proposal
    Public Enemies
    New Moon

I think there are more movies coming out this year that I’ll want to see but I can’t think of them. And I think Disney needs to come out with another GOOD movie.
    .-= Jaime´s last blog ..Weekend Recap =-.

    LivingWicked Reply:

I do not want to see Harry Potter OR New Moon. :D

I agree on the Disney statement.

  12. STC Says:

I just want to say I’m so proud of my bestie. He’s handling the issue with his mother in such a mature way, even he acknowledges he’s growing up. Brings a tear to my eye to see the grasshopper acting like an adult (but don’t think I haven’t told him men mature MUCH slower than women!)

I want to see Hangover, Taking of Pelham 123 and Transformers

    LivingWicked Reply:

I am happy for him too then. :)

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd I dont really want to see Transformers in the theater.

  13. Lisa Says:

The Hangover is quite possibly one of the funniest movies I have EVER seen! LOVED IT! And we can’t stop reciting the ridiculous movie quotes!
She is wearing my grandmother’s Holocaust ring.
I didn’t know they gave out rings at the Holocaust!!

    Ridiculously funny!

And I really really want to see My Sister’s Keeper. I read the book a few years ago (Jodi Picoult is my FAVORITE author), and it’s one of those books that really changed my life. I’m a little nervous to see the movie, because I don’t know if the movie can pull out so many emotions and really come across the way the book did.. But OMG what a phenomenal book! NOT for everybody, though. I would never recommend it to someone who is about to have their first child, or is a super paranoid parent… it’s just too much to deal with.
I think I’m going to re-read the book, and then go see the movie :)

    LivingWicked Reply:

It is Cameron Diaz though. I have faith in her ability to get the job done.

I love dan but I am so sick and fucking tired of spending hours on end in the ER with him. Or where ever else that has to do with his health. He’s not a hypocondriact. He has reoccurent GI bleeding and sometimes that loss is significant. He now has, within the last month, been diagnosed with serious asthma and all the early indicators of COPD. His stomach also produces more stomach acid than he needs. He’s on three different antacids and the acid is still eating him away from the inside. It’s not by any stretch of my imagination that I feel that the man that I’ve come to love and connect with on so many deep levels is going to literally DIE ON ME one day. Try focusing on something other than that, while you are pregnant with your own problems. Living today, every day, just trying to appreciate the things you can and enjoy it.

Also, I did read your MJ blog. To an extent, I agree with you. Some things, eh, not so much. But I have to say, I still laughed my ever loving ass off two nights ago when MJ was on TV during some news thing and Dan said something about the dude being MJ and Caleb ARGUED WITH HIM!!! He goes, that is NOT MJ. MJ is WHITE. We had to explain the whole cosmetic surgery causing skin pigmentation issues.

I need to fucking move. And I am stressing it. I can’t spend time in my house because it feels weird there. It’s going to take me TWO MONTHS to pack the house and be ready by the end of August to move. With car after car load of donations.

  16. Nicole Says:

The Hangover!!! Its a must see, I def laughed from beginning to end and think I might go see it again this weekend!!

  17. Cassi Says:

I totally know what you mean. I can’t believe all the things that people I love have said to me about Michael Jackson and even Farrah Fawcett. It’s sad. It makes me question my judgement in people. :(

I just saw Transformers 2 and it was the first movie I have seen in 2 years and I LOVED it! I plan on seeing the Proposal next week. I am going to have the sitter come hang with Jimmy while I get out and get some desperately needed ME time :)

    xoxo
