Play That Funky Music, White Girl

ihatemundayz

How was your weekend? What did you do? Mine was jam-packed, but not in a bad way.

Apparently I missed the memo that covered the following:

1) People are fucking negative
2) We are not, for any reason what so ever, allowed to have any fun on a beautiful day… especially not a Friday.
3) Haters are taking over the world.

On Friday, Tara came and picked me up from work to go hit up this place in Ballard that had been abandoned by tenants and the landlords had posted an ad on craigslist to offer up the goods for free. Tara desperately needs a couch, so it was totally worth going by to check it out. No couches worth snagging, but we got a dresser for Charli. All it needed was a new coat of paint. (which I did today because I am so productive and awesome.)

On our way there, we were listening to … rap music … loudly … like good little girls do on a sunny Friday in Seattle. (if you have never been to Seattle on a beautiful day… words do it no justice.) Our windows down, music blaring… singing with pretend microphones as if we were in concert… and we started noticing dirty looks, upturned noses and people rolling their windows up (read: 7). <— REALLY?!

To all of you fucking Negative Nancy’s and Norman’s out there: “K.I.M.B.A.” (kiss it: my beautiful ass.)

I am so sick of the negativity in the world today. Like, soooooooooo o o o o o sick of it.

SO WHAT if the music is blaring?

SO WHAT if it isn’t your genre?

SO WHAT if I am singing like a stray cat in heat at the top of my lungs.

Just allow 2 amazingly beautiful, positive girls to live their lives and have a little bit of fun. That is all I am saying.

This weekend taught Tara and I that our friendship isn’t flawless. We had a misunderstanding, and realized that as much as we thought we could just look at each other and just know what the other person is thinking… sometimes we don’t. And that is okay. It is humbling to know that if I need to tell my best friend about herself, I can and she will accept it for what it is, and vice versa. We also learned that it is okay to be mad as long as we talk about it and move forward.

I think our friendship went a little deeper than before this weekend. She is my Louise. <3

Lastly:

(While watching Kendra. YES I watch Kendra. She is funny, so shutit.)

Me: “If we had a bachelorette pad, we would have a stripper pole.”
Tarable: “Yep. And a double shower.”
Me: “With glass doors. We would have big fat shower orgies.”
Tarable: “I want mirrors everywhere.”
Me: “I want mirrors in the shower.”
Tarable: (cracking the fuck up.) “You are SUCH a slut.”
Me: “WHAT!?”
Tarable: “SUCH a slut.”

What is your favorite movie?
Would you have a stripper pole in your house?
What about mirrors in your shower?

Do you need to tell someone to K.I.M.B.A today?

My favourite movie is The Notebook closely followed by Singin’ In The Rain – yes… I am a girly sap who also LOVES the classics…

    Maybe to the stripper pole

    Yes to the mirrors

No to needing to tell someone to K.I.M.B.A – have been a shut in this Monday – even with a three day weekend going on outside….

    LivingWicked Reply:

    I <3 3 day weekends.

Oh man. You just made me miss Seattle big time! The crisp air in the mornings at the pier with the sun on my face. The market full of more beautiful flowers than I’ve ever seen in one place. Ahhhhh
Yes on the mirror, but only for shaving. Its like a 3×3 cubicle in there!

    LivingWicked Reply:

Seattle is lovely! I <3 it a great deal.

Favorite Movie: Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
    Stripper Pole: No.
Mirrors In The Shower: I wish.

I had a busy weekend. Not entirely bad, just stressful with my nephew. I bought WoW and played that for a little while. It’s pretty cool. Went to a family birthday party, kids are awesome when they’re entertaining each other.

    I love you. Happy Monday.

I wouldn’t use one if I had it. I don’t dance, in private or in public.

If we met, you would dance.

    Jaime Reply:

Dan’s sister is beyond KIMBA. We very briefly talked to my sister about it at the BBQ yesterday. Actually, He said to her “Hey, thanks for not talking shit about me behind my back like my sister.” Apparently she’d heard the gossip (read:drama bs) from my mother. I said to Dan, “Don’t worry, we don’t talk shit behind eachother’s backs.” and smirked at my sister, to which she replied, “No, we say that shit right to your face.” I fucking love THAT ONE THING about my family. That and the fact that when we are with MY family, we can relax and be ourselves. When we are around HIS family? We are BOTH uptight.

PS. I think mirrors in the shower would steam up. I want mirrors on my bedroom ceiling…although, I spend a lot of time on top….hummm…maybe a side wall would be good.

    LivingWicked Reply:

I love that about my family as well. No sugar coating. None.

  5. Anne Says:

Agreed, the peeps in the cars around you should have gotten over themselves and their preferences in life.

I don’t think I’d have a stripper pole BUT I’d definitely have a lap dance chair; more my style. For the love of Pete, I’d like to remove all mirrors from my home; not add more where the truth just might set me free.

    LivingWicked Reply:

    HAH!

I am learning to love mirrors. It is a long process, but I am learning.

  6. Cassie Says:

lol @ the haters, but….you wouldn’t have liked it much if it were country music!!! lol

Mary Poppins is my fav movie!

no mirrors or stripper poles for me…..EVER!!!

    LivingWicked Reply:

I wouldn’t have rolled my window up. I appreciate music lovers of all kinds… whether or not it is my preference.

    :D

I love, love, love to sing anywhere anytime, if I know the song. I don’t care if I’m at work, at school, at church, grocery shopping, shopping in general, driving, showering, watching tv, or sleeping. I don’t have a good voice, but it makes me happy :) So I don’t care what other people think of my singing, because if they don’t like it they can plug their ears…

    LivingWicked Reply:

I agree. Plug ‘em up bitches cause I am SINGING.

  8. Briana Says:

My favorite movie….hmmm….I don’t have one favorite, but a few. Mr. and Mrs. Smith…Dumb and Dumber…13 Going On 30…TWILIGHT!

Yes to the pole and yes to the mirrors.

I would like to tell everyone at my work K.I.M.B.A. bitches!

My only problem with peeps bumpin and blarin… with when a car three lanes of traffic and six cars away manages to WAKE UP a SLEEPING BABY with their noise. (and its always noise.. can’t ever HEAR any actual music through the distortion.can you tell i’ve had that issue more than once? This bitch WILL crank up my system and blast your noise out with some old school rock. QUEEN anyone? *grin*
I love music. There is a line where it ceases being music and becomes nothing but noise. even then.. i’m all good til you wake a baby up with it. <– mama bear comin out
    movie? Dirty Dancing
    pole? doubt it
mirrors? iffin it was bigger maybe.

Jody’s last blog post..On that kind of a high

    LivingWicked Reply:

why doubt it on the pole? I figure you and hubs might wanna bow chicka in the alone time with a dance? No?!

    ;)

  10. Jody Says:

haha. with my tendency towards accident-prone-ness and general excessive clutz? that would be a bad thing waiting to happen rofl.

my favorite is people dancing and singing out loud in their cars, with the windows up. Cause I can’t hear so i make up my own words about how their day is going and why they’re singing about it. Occasionally I share my nerdiness with whoever is with me in the car when I catch them.

I would have thrown you a marshmallow. I used to keep them in my car for just that reason. (yes, totally serious)

My favorite movie ever ever is Quills. But I’m currently desperate with the need to watch the old Chipmunks animated movie… with the balloon race! NEEEEEEEEEEED.

I would have a stripper pole, and learn to use it.

I’m with Justice – wouldn’t the mirrors fog up? And even if they didn’t… I dunno that I am nearly okay enough with my current body to watch myself yet. Maybe in Sept….

OOH! Also – I *finally* made the broccoli cheese quichey-eggy-whatever yesterday! CRAZY-tasty. I am pleased with it, and you, and myself. All in one happy little bubble of pride. Yes.

I think that unfogging the mirrors would be a lot of fun when you have people taking showers together.

Yes I said people. Like great big shower orgies.

    What!? A girl can dream?!

That damn egg dish is fucking amazing.

  13. Zandria Says:

Fuck ‘em. Do you. Miserable pieces of shit.

Anykissmymofoassnegativebitches, yes, I’d definitely have a stripper pole in my house, and have actually considered getting one instead of paying big bucks to one of those studios to teach me how to use my body and get a workout at the same time. It would make for interesting foreplay, at the very least.

My favorite movie (this was hard) is The Shawshank Redemption. Awesome, awesome movie.

  14. Carol Says:

i don’t mind mirrors…but i like one on the side…yes, i would have a hard time explaining to my kiddos why mirrors are in the shower or on the ceiling. same for the stripper pole. but, it’s a fun idea…and i have danced a time or two for someone.

fave movie…maybe shawshank redemption. it reminds me of the beauty of the human spirit and true friendship. but, thats in my serious mode in this minute.

    LivingWicked Reply:

    I love that movie.

And my house?!?! Have you seen me? I am thinking of having all of the mirrors removed from my house for my own sanity. Seriously. As far as the stripper pole? I hear there is a shortage right now, so I will leave the remaining poles for you and Tara. :) nkay?

Hey there, first time reader here…found you through everybody’s buddy LiLu…I know what you mean by the assholes who are so consumed with themselves that they can’t accept what anybody else likes or does, but I have no problem throwing it back into their faces because I am what I am…I’m the gimpy lame ass white guy in his mid 30’s that loves Pink floyd, loves Zeppelin, and if my car is in the vicinity of theirs, they will damn fucking well hear it…hahaha! Anyway, rock on…good blog…oh, and add me on Facebook if you like…I saw we both commented on Lilu’s status a bit ago…hehehe…
