Considerate Cheating, Etc.

My birthday weekend has come to an end. I didn’t plan on it turning into a weekend of celebrations in my honor, but some really great people surrounded me this weekend and I more than appreciate it.

Also, I shopped for Vegas. :D

And, I cheated.

I ate a cupcake. One that my son bought for me with his hard earned money.

I ate 3 bites of macaroni and cheese.

I ate a half of a piece of toast.

I ate a small amount of mashed potatoes.

And I only feel bad about the macaroni and cheese.

When D (cautiously) asked me what I wanted for my birthday dessert, I told him that I wanted strawberries and whipped cream. He asked me if I was sure and (of course) I totally was… so he went and found me the SB approved whipped cream.

I have such a newly considerate husband.

He never used to think about things like that before. As long as we had been together, he used to always forget to ask for no mayo on my burgers and sandwiches. He used to forget the drinks that I did or did not like. I learned to deal with it as best as I could, but deep down it bothered me to no end that my own husband, my supposed soul mate couldn’t even remember little things about me.

It all goes back to the little things. You may not think that him taking a moment to stop and find the Cool Whip that is SB approved is important, but I do. It means that he supports me. That he takes me seriously, and knows that as small of a gesture as it is… that it means the world to me.

All in all, it was a great birthday. Thanks to my friends who drank mimosas on Sunday, and all of the messages with Happy Birthday wishes that I recieved all day yesterday and today. I really feel special. And unconditionally loved.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Birthday cake: Nana’s Dutch Cocoa cake. OMG OMG OMG heaven. Mom tried to make it for me this past birthday and it came THIS close to being perfect. Like Nana made it.

    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Oh, and Nana’s cheesecake. More heaven.

I think it’s the little things that are the most important – anyone can figure out the big gestures… but making a small gesture shows that someone is really paying attention to what’s happening in the other person’s life.

I don’t know if I have a favourite birthday memory really… probably my 18th, over here 18 is the legal drinking age and I went and upset all of my friends plans (most of them had already turned 18 by that stage) by leaving the country for 3 months which happened to span over my birthday, I went and stayed with my Aunt and cousins and she made the whole day really special, and my little cousin who was four at the time, insisted on Toy Story everything hahahaha so I had toy story paper napkins, plates, cups, party hats, and a special birthday breakfast – my Aunt is also my Godmother and has lived in England since I was about 4 years old so it was really special being able to celebrate with her and have her make a fuss over me, and then that evening I went out to dinner with a friend and on a mini pub crawl around Cambridge for my first legal drinks…and then I took myself off to London for the weekend and stayed in a nice hotel and did exactly what I wanted for 2 days, I LOVE LONDON – My favourite cake is Black Forest.. I love the combination of the chocolate and the sour cherry…YUM …

Awwww! Please to give him a hug for me today. Thoughtful husbands are awesome!

I know you’re not a fan but I love to have cheesecake on my birthday.

Birthday memories…. Last year was pretty cool for the small fact that Keith didn’t wig out at my Birthday wish. All I wanted last year were a few (unspecified) prettified goodies from Bath & Body Works. I purposely don’t specify because I want SOME aspect of the gift/special moment to be on him. I can’t stand dictating exactly what I want because it loses everything special. He did an excellent job and happened to pick up my favorites.

That meant more to me than he may ever realize.

Yeah it really means a lot to know that they pay attention.

What is your favorite birthday memory? The year I turned 15 and I was allowed to go test for my driver’s license. I’d been driving since I was 12, but that made it official

What is your favorite birthday cake?my MawMaw Patsy made me a Spiderman Cake one year and Holly Hobby the next….I liked them BOTH the best!!!

I’m glad you had such a great birthday!!

Best birthday memory was a monster big party we had for my birthday several years ago. We moved everything around in my old house. We had a dance floor on one side and in the back we had one of t6he biggest bestest bands in town playing (they just showed up for the party and ended up playing) I was in an enormous inflatable swimming pool surrounded by Christmas lights in the front yard getting molested by lesbians as my guests showed up.
Not a big fan of birthday cake. I like cake. But any cake would do.

Live bands at parties rule. RULE.

Hmmm. I lost 2lbs last week, with just a small cheat at lunch on Sunday. NO cheat yesterday, and I got my jog in.

Have I said today that I CAN’T FUCKING WAIT FOR VEGAS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Fav/best B-day: I’ve never had one. I guess my best was this past one (30th) to DC, but I didn’t really do anything (except fuck), and with the way it all ended, it’s kinda put a buzz-kill on my memories. Maybe next year I’ll have a kick-ass b-day!

I haven’t worked out as much as I should be working out. After finals though, it is ON.

I dont feel anything bad… so I am just gonna pick up where I left off.

My goal was to do 2-a-day workouts starting this past Saturday. Then I realized… I have a hard enough time making ONE workout a day, do I really want to burn myself out like that? So I’m making it my goal to workout once a day every day this week. If I do a 2nd, that’s great, but I’m not planning on it, so I don’t get disappointed.

    LivingWicked Reply:

    Good goal. :)

I’m glad you had such a good birthday weekend! And it’s OK to cheat on your diet every now and then. It keeps things interesting in your relationship with food.

Yeah, I just am making sure to say it out loud so that I dont rationalize over cheating and refalling off of the wagon.

I love when they get the little things.
My most memorable birthday memories are not of mine, but of what I was able to accomplish for other’s birthdays.. Don’t even know if I can actually remember birthdays of mine lol.
My favorite birthday cake is warm from the oven, unfrosted. with a glass of milk. yum.

    LivingWicked Reply:

    Yum. <3

I didnt know it was your birthday or I totally would have said something before now— Happy Birthday! (late, but it wouldnt be me if it wasn’t. lol)

Don’t beat yourself up about the food. It’s not like you sat in a closet and ate until you made yourself sick. It happens. Just pick right back up and don’t worry about it.

I don’t have a best birthday memory. I can’t remember a single birthday party. God, thats sad. I just realized it too. I had them cause I have pictures, they just weren’t memorable.

So how about worst birthday- 25. I felt like I was saying goodbye to my youth. 30 was easy peasy. This year is 35 and I’m gonna request a cake and a party so maybe I can remember at least one of them! lol (I blame the things I did in my 20’s for my memory lapses!)
