2 Achievements & 2 Aspirations

It is N.Y.E. 2008.

The last day of the year. I don’t care who you are, if you have big plans or if you are one of the million and a half people who stay home and watch the ball drop in Times Square…N.Y.E. has a buzz about it.

I fucking LOVE that buzz.

I try to do something kick ass every year. Do you ever notice when you try to make something amazing… you are let down? Yeah. Boo on that. This year we will party at home with some ‘cooler than polar bear’s toenails’ friends, eat good food and drink good drink.

The corny stuff like the above listed items make me happy. I love decorations and themes. I like to go all out for events. So the once small event at my house has a little ‘oooomph’ behind it. It is how I tumble.

I think it is gonna get motherfucking wild.

I am sure there will be pictures.

Anyway… on to the bizness.

Today is about achievements for 2008 and aspirations for 2009. I have 2 of each. Feel free to list more if you got ‘em. I welcome you taking today to blow a little smoke up your asses. :)

2 Achievements:

2: Going back to school… and finishing my first quarter with a 4.0

1: FINALLY DECIDING ON AN ENDING FOR SC! And… writing it out! That is a big deal for me. H U G E. I struggled for months trying to end it the perfect way. One day, I sat down and just wrote. I guess I should have just done that in the first place.

2 Aspirations:

2: To finish my CDP certification on schedule a year from now… with no less than a 3.8 GPA, and to get accepted in to the Social Work graduate program at UW.

1: To self-publish and sell 500 copies of my book so that I am able to have enough money to invest in an Amazon.com presskit and hopefully get recognized by a publishing company to pick up my book.

If I don’t get a chance to say it beforehand… Happy New Year!
Be safe. Dont Drink and Drive. Wear condoms.

And whatever you do… Do NOT use cheesy pick up lines to get laid.

Are you a big to-doer or a stay at hom-er for NYE?
What are your 2 Achievements and 2 Aspirations?

Have you checked out the new look of the homepage? If you haven’t, you should click here to check it out. Q did a kick ass job so far. I am a proud mama. Support her, dammit! ;)

‘Til next year….

For the 1st time in 10 years I will be with my folks for New Years…I’m cooking a ton of food for family and loving my niece and nephew coming up.

Its good to get back to my roots…Love it!

    LivingWicked Reply:

    That is SO awesome.

    Whatcha cookin’ good lookin?

  2. Anne Says:

For several years, we have had a tradition of driving an hour out of town to celebrate with friends. As far as we could tell; the party wasn’t happening this year… or we’re off the guest list for not coming back to the Halloween Party after putting our son to bed. IDK; she’s been silent. Keith and I talked last night and it looks like we’ll be home bound at night; possibly go out as a couple during the day.

I think I can be more positive this morning…

    2 Achievements:

*Solidifying the understanding that I am ultimately the one in total control of everything I do. No one has EVER had some magic remote control to make me do things. It’s my body; my brain. I have the final say. Once I fully absorbed that; I had a blast telling specific people, “No.”

*Losing — and keeping off- at least 15 pounds this year. I’ve got so much more to lose; but I have to take a moment and credit myself for that.

    Aspirations:

*Get under 200 lbs — At this moment, I don’t even care if that means I hang at 199 for a while. UNDER 200 is what I care about now… and I was roughly 185 when I got pregnant in 2007.

*Put an end to the negative speech that oozes between parted lips like so much venom. I know my child listens and I don’t want him to learn to think and operate like that.

*Get a job…Work harder TOWARD getting a job

*Start my Masters (I’m aiming for a Fall start date)

*Potty train the boy. That scares me.

    LivingWicked Reply:

Getting under 200 was a huge deal for me too. I will NEVER be over that number. Even if I gain and sit under at 199… it still isnt 200 dammit.

I am aiming for spring quarter of next year to start mine… YAY We can stress over it together!!!

I, thankfully do not have to do that. D is the potty trainer in the house. So patient…

    Anne Reply:

Oh, da stress will be … I know flowing would be an appropriate verb choice but I keep thinking “strumming on the ol’ banjo.” I know.

After seeing Yes Man, I have another aspiration. In May I shall get a babysitter so I can see Hugh Jackman without a shirt.

I’m going to my very first NYE party this year! Usually I’m asleep, working, or in bed reading to bring in the new year, but this year my friend Erik is having a NYE get-together and I’m going! Of course, I’m also going to be the DD and drive my friend Mike ’cause he swerves when he’s been drinking, and he only lives a few minutes from my house. So it should be fun!!!!! I don’t know what to expect, but they’re my friends so I’m not worried about it.

YOU HEAR THAT WORLD?!?!!! I’M NOT WORRIED!!!!!

    Jaime’s last blog post..Hi-ho!

    LivingWicked Reply:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It is good that you are the responsible DD. Not many can say they WILL be and not end up shitfaced at the end of the night.

Woooomotherfuckinghooo. You getting re-legal to drive is a huge weight I bet. We got D all good with that as well… and let me tell you. It is so less stressful.

  8. Jody Says:

Achievements? Is it cheating to have one from another list? Cuz it is both massive achievement AND a top moment of the year lol.
Being qualified for a mortgage and beginning the repair of long damaged credit. for so many years, and with ex’s destruction of my credit, I never thought it would be possible. Massive achievement for both Hubby and I. And we have continued to work on paying off past debt and repairing and renewing credit. HUGE relief. the second? Having real health and dental insurance. Self explanatory. Yes we all know it’s important. reality is that sometimes it is just not feasible, and ya make do.
Aspirations? Go back to school. I have a whole 2 semester classes of college under by belt. I’ve decided on a ‘numbers’ course.. going towards business finances slash accounting. which goes hand in hand with my second aspiration… of being able to be an active help in my hubby’s business taking off. (which is an aspiration of his own.. need investment-finding uber rich people-mojo lol)

    LivingWicked Reply:

    It absolutely is NOT cheating.

Start school slow. Just because us old parental folks have a tendency to burn out quicker. :)

  9. Danielle K. Says:

    Accomplishments:

Making it thru 2008 in one piece. we’ve been hit with illnesses, trips to specialists down at our childrens hospital, two surgeries, mrsa ear infections, strep throat, car accidents, etc……

Graduating college with a 3.016 GPA and walking away with 4 degrees/diploma/certificates. I got named to the Deans List when i took 6 classes, three credits. And somehow with everything I got done in a year and a half.

    Aspirations:

living a healthier lifestyle and have more fresh, raw veggies n fruits in the house.

work on my writing skills a little bit more.

    LivingWicked Reply:

Congrats!!!!! I am proud of you. I cannot wait to graduate.

Fresh fruits and veggies are so wonderful. You will feel an increase in energy just by adding them into your diet.

  10. Danielle K. Says:

    oh and another aspiration ~

    get my drivers license

    LivingWicked Reply:

    yes.

    2 Achievements?

    - Okay I finally sent out for my transcripts so I can go back to school.
That is a pretty big achievement for me since I have been so busy I never thought I’d have time to go back to school.

    - I bought myself a guitar. I’ve wanted to own one since I was a kid on my daddies lap playing his guitar so hard I pulled the strings loose. But anytime I had any money I’d spend it on new pants and snazzy new Point Zero’s for the hubby-to-be or a new bed for my daughter… or something else to please the family. During the summertime the hubby-to-be took me into a music store and I walked out with a guitar thanks to him. It was the nicest most expensive thing I’ve bought for myself in a long… long…. long time. We’re talking pre-mommy 8 years ago… furniture does not count as stuff just for me…

    Things I aspire to do:

Actually go back to school and do the whole Computer nerd thing so I can get a job as an IT eventually.

Do more things just for me and stick to them. I got the guitar, now it’s time to learn how to play… and I have recently taken up belly dancing.. I’d like to stick to that… I would like to get back into writing as well.. it’s something I’ve forgotten how to do it seems… I used to write every day, if not a blog, a poem.. or a chapter of a book, or… something…

    LivingWicked Reply:

How often do you play the guitar now that you have it?

I want to belly dance. I need to be 25-30 pounds lighter first. We are doing softball and volleyball to add to our workout stuff this year. I am excited to play sports.

    blsflignorance Reply:

Not as often as I should be, I should be putting 20 mins into guitar a day. But as soon as my fingers start to hurt I put it away which is usually only 5-10 minutes into it. I know I should be playing a little longer, but I just don’t.. LOL

Belly dancing is a great way to lose weight… it works the abs and obliques quite well. I know my tubby… err.. umm.. tummy has firmed up a bit since starting. THAT I do about 20 minutes a day…

Unfortunately I can’t do sports any more… when I have coaches telling me “For the safety of both our and the opposing team, I’m gonna suggest you retire” I think it’s better I just listen XD

  12. Striden Says:
